Well 2012 is here. Wishing you all a good one.
This year has been full of ups and downs. More downs than ups really. First, my dear friend Kathy passed away after 4 years of fighting cancer. She was a lovely lady - very family orientated and I was sad she missed the birth of her first grand daughter, Elizabeth, by only 2 weeks. I miss her so much. Second, I took very ill about May/June this year and was admitted to hospital at the beginning of July for 3 weeks. Took about 3 months to diagnose that I have pancreatitis which is very serious, in fact can be fatal, but I survived it and am still plodding on. My best friend Susan's mum died on the 14th December, I really felt for her especially at that time of year. To say that I will be glad to see the end of this year is an understatement. It has been a memorable one for all the wrong reasons and I am really glad that it is over.
It hasnt been all gloom and doom though. Douglas celebrated his 50th birthday, my youngest niece became 40. My great nephew Jamie passed his driving test and he started University in September. My other two great nephews Josh and Scott started college to train to be motor mechanics.
On the run up to Christmas, Douglas had his bank card eaten by the ATM when the systems went down. We lost our broandband connection - the router died on us and we're still waiting on the new one. On Christmas eve around lunchtime the microwave stopped working, so a mad dash to get a new one and my laptop was hacked and I had to report it to the police.
But there was one piece of news which was the best news ever. My brother in law getting an MBE. We are all so proud of him, so a good note to end on.
So I'll raise a glass to you all and wish you all the best of health this year, and hope that 2012 is better than this last year
