2nd Anniversary Card

Been a bad blogger, but still have my hand in plaster.  Thats 7 weeks now so typing and doing things is driving me nuts as it takes me much longer to do things.  See the consultant a week on Monday and he'll look at it but it might go straight back into plaster again.

Anyway the reason for this posting is it was my second wedding anniversary yesterday and my friend Paul sent me a fantastic card.  Not that the other handmade cards were not equally as fantastic but Paul doesnt show his cards anywhere and I think he should. The scan doesnt do it justice but I'm not up to getting my camera out and setting it up or it will be next year before it gets shown.

So here itis.  Thanks so much Paul.  I just love the card. x

Think I'll try and take a photo of it later.

Slight Accident

Well, what with me being back at work full time after my pancreatitis I just havent had the time to blog.  I have made a few things and will upload the photos soon, but have had a slight accident.

Last Saturday I caught my heel at the top of the stairs and fell all my length.  It was one of those things that when it happened I knew it would end in disaster. Well I hit my head on the wall on the way down and it bent back, which has given me whiplash. I've got a massive bruise on the top of my thigh. Two bruised knees - one looks as if it has an egg on it too, but the worst bit is I put my hand out - like you do - and I broke my scaphoid and I'm in plaster. What a nightmare it is. Even the simplest things are difficult to do.  Its driving me nuts and I've to be in plaster for about 4 weeks.

And before anyone says it - it was 10 in the morning and I hadnt been drinking,  LOL.  So no crafting for me or knitting. Boy do I miss it.  And typing is difficult.

Happy New Year

Well 2012 is here.  Wishing you all a good one.

This year has been full of ups and downs.  More downs than ups really.  First, my dear friend Kathy passed away after 4 years of fighting cancer.  She was a lovely lady - very family orientated and I was sad she missed the birth of her first grand daughter, Elizabeth,  by only 2 weeks.  I miss her so much.  Second, I took very ill about May/June this year and was admitted to hospital at the beginning of July for 3 weeks.  Took about 3 months to diagnose that I have pancreatitis which is very serious, in fact can be fatal, but I survived it and am still plodding on.  My best friend Susan's mum died on the 14th December, I really felt for her especially at that time of year. To say that I will be glad to see the end of this year is an understatement.  It has been a memorable one for all the wrong reasons and I am really glad that it is over.

It hasnt been all gloom and doom though.  Douglas celebrated his 50th birthday, my youngest niece became 40.  My great nephew Jamie passed his driving test and he started University in September.  My other two great nephews Josh and Scott started college to train to be motor mechanics.

On the run up to Christmas, Douglas had his bank card eaten by the ATM when the systems went down.  We lost our broandband connection - the router died on us and we're still waiting on the new one. On Christmas eve around lunchtime the microwave stopped working, so a mad dash to get a new one and my laptop was hacked and I had to report it to the police.

But there was one piece of news which was the best news ever.  My brother in law getting an MBE.  We are all so proud of him, so a good note to end on.

So I'll raise a glass to you all and wish you all the best of health this year, and hope that 2012 is better than this last year

Some Exciting News

Had some fantastic news today. My brother in law has been awarded an MBE in the Queens Honours List. We are all so proud of him. He was awarded the MBE for services to Vulnerable Children and Young People in Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Well done John.  My sister would have been proud of you if she were still with us.

Merry Christmas

Afternoon everyone.  Hope you have had a good day and that Santa has been good to you.  Its been a busy week here.  I returned back to work this week after almost 6 months of being sick with pancreatitis.  It was touch and go really when I was admitted to hospital and I am thankful to still be here.  I knew I was ill, but I had no idea how critically ill I was.  But thats in the past.  I've been shattered this week, but survived it.  LOL.

We've had a few disasters this week. Our broadband has gone down, so this is a quick post from my mobile, the microwave broke yesterday so had to go out and get a new one.  Hubby's bank card was eaten up in the ATM when he went to withdraw money on Friday night when their systems went down and last night I discovered that my laptop had been hacked and had to call the police to report it.  I'll be glad when this year is over and can start a new one.

So wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and for those who have lost someone close this year, I'm sending massive hugs to you all.

Christmas Candles

I have been wanting to do some candles for ages but just have never got around to it.  I decided that I wanted to do a candle on the same theme as the cards for my nieces and their husbands.  Its my first attempt - the photo looks a bit hazy but I think its the image.

Not only do they look hazy, they are squint.  But I'm sure they will be ok when they get them.  Might try some more one day.

Fireworks at Weston Pier

I love going to watch fireworks and my hubby and I went on the 5th November to watch the fireworks at Weston pier.  They were a bit disappointing.  Only lasted ten minutes when they normally last about 20.  On the way back from the doctors the other day I noticed a sign saying there was going to be fireworks at the pier last night.  Told hubby about it and he looked on the net and because people were disappointed they were having a free display last night.  Some people had paid to go onto the pier to watch them and I guess they felt they had been ripped off.

So here as some pics of last nights show.  I didnt take the piccies.  My camera wouldnt cope with them, so cannot take any credit for them - hubby is responsible.

It lasted 20 minutes and started bang on time.

It was a lovely clear evening.  They were lucky on both occasions that there was no rain.

Commissioned 40th Birthday card for a football fan

Although I am down south now, I still get requests from friends in Glasgow to make cards.  This one is for a Rangers supporter and like all football supporters he loves things to do with his favourite team.  This image is ideal as its the front entrance of Rangers Football Club.

Hope it went down well with him.

The card has been decoupaged (well what else would I do), but its not too noticeable from the picture.

Commissioned 85th birthday card

As I'm starting to feel a bit better, I had agreed to make a birthday card for one of my friends to give to a friend of hers.  The lady is going to be 85 at the end of this month.  I had originally thought of doing flowers on the card, but I guess when you get to that age that she will probably get a few cards with flowers on it, so decided on something else.

I'll post it off so that it gets there in plenty of time. I hope she likes it.

Hubby's 50th Birthday Card

50th Birthday Card - Twisted Easel

It was my hubby's 50th birthday and as I had been quite ill in hospital and just discharged, I hadnt a clue what I was going to do for a card for him.  I made a couple and binned them (as we do).  The day of his birthday I gave him all the other cards he had and I still hadnt finished mine for him.  Bits were on and then off and then in the bin.  Eventually I made this one.  It was rushed and not what I wanted but I finished it and gave it to him when he finished work.  It was the first twisted easel card I had made and might not make another.

New Job Card

My hubby lost his job just after I moved in with him. It was a bit of a struggle but we managed - what a start to married life. I was delighted when he got a new job and made this card for him. He's a poker player, so thought this was appropriate.
Papers from the making cards magazine supplement for Men.

Some Sad News

1943 - 2011

After four years of battling with cancer my dear friend Kathy passed away peacefully yesterday. Kathy was such a lovely kind and caring person and touched many people's lives. She fought this battle very hard and to be honest she was given 3 months when she was diagnosed which shows how determined she was to beat it. She had exceeded many goals and I guess we all thought that she would continue to beat them. I am completely devastated by the news. My thoughts and prayers are with all her family. There will be such a hole in their lives. RIP Kathy.

Hubby's Christmas Card

Because I've been so poorly before Christmas and after I hadn't managed to take pictures of any of the cards I have made. The only one I have is my hubby's card. Had planned to take more pictures but just didnt have the strength.

Next year I'll be more organised.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas Everyone

This is a very late posting as both my hubby and I have had flu since just before Christmas. We havent even had Christmas dinner yet. Will probably have our Christmas dinner at New Year. Thank goodness for freezers. What would we do without them.

Here is a picture taken out of our bedroom window on Christmas eve. Snow was everywhere. So now we've had some I dont want it back again. It looks lovely until it stops everyone from doing what they need to.

Lands End

Douglas and I havent really had time to have a long weekend since we got married, so planned a few days off and went to Lands End. Weather was really good and we both enjoyed ourselves. Walked lots. My camera isnt working for some strange reason so not able to take pictures of any cards I have made recently. Will need to get another or get it fixed.

Sunday, 6 June 2010

Last Sunday we had a Fun Day which was organised by everyone at work. It was to raise money for three charities chosen by the Committee. A lot of work went into the preparation of it which was held at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow.

I took a craft stall to sell my cards. Thought you might like to have a look at my stall. Its the first time I have done a craft fair.

I have been getting a row from some of my friends for not sharing more photos of my wedding. So here are a couple more. As I wasnt prepared for this wedding and it was a total shock I wore a dress I had taken with me.

Surprise Surprise

Well no one was more surprised than I was. Douglas proposed to me on Monday night while we were in Las Vegas and we were marrried on Wednesday at noon in LasVegas and 8pm in Scotland. I think I am still in shock yet. Anyway we had a fantastic day yesterday. We were collected by a limo and taken to the wedding chapel. I changed there and the photographer took some photos. The ceremony was also relayed on the web so that my family back home in Scotland could watch. It was a lovely ceremony. More photos taken and then the limo took us back to the hotel. We went out for a lovely meal and then went to see Phantom of the Opera to finish off the day.

So now I am Mrs Stevens. It was a brilliant day.

Bad Blogger

Hi all. Been a bad blogger recently. Have had so many things to do regarding work and packing for my hols. I am also taking a table at a craft stall at the end of May so have been putting things together for that.

At the moment I am in sunny Las Vegas, although there is a bit of a chilly wind. Have been relaxing the last couple of days - have done a few shows and a bit of sightseeing but nothing major.

Hope to be back crafting soon and promise I will let you see some photos.
